More creativity in tableaux required

A meeting of tableaux sub-committee was chaired by Dasara Special Officer and Deputy Commissioner C Shikha here on Friday. At the meeting, discussions were held between officials in-charge of Dasara tableaux in various districts and suggestions were put forth to improve the same.

At the meeting, blue-prints of tableaux of various districts and government departments were presented.

Among the various blue-prints submitted, the committee was impressed by the tableau designs of Davanagere, Chamarajanagar and Tumkur districts. While the committee suggested some improvements in tableaux, so as to imbibe various cultural and literary aspects of the districts, they were also irked with some districts that had designed tableaux contrary to the themes provided to the districts.

Committee members advised the districts to exhibit creativity in the tableaux, while avoiding uniformity among them.

C Shikha instructed districts, whose tableaux were not up to the mark, to make suitable changes in them, so as to satisfy the themes provided to them and also imbibe additional information about districts in the tableaux. She advised them to consult with various officials and artistes in their districts, so as to add attraction to the same.

It can be recalled that six themes were selected for tableaux for various districts of the State, in a meeting chaired by president of Dasara executive committee and revenue minister V Sreenivas Prasad, recently.

At the meeting, officials who represented various districts sought an increase in the funds sanctioned to them to create tableaux. Shikha said that all the zilla panchayats had enough funds, a portion of it could be used for tableaux. It was, however, not possible to increase the funds, she said.

On demands of issuing additional passes for officials who accompany the tableaux, to increase prize amount for tableaux winning consolation prizes and to announce best tableaux prizes at torchlight parade grounds, Shikha said that she would look into the issue and make suitable arrangements.
