Occupants of Raheja Sai Garden Apartments on Whitefield-Hoskote Main Road, State Highway- 35, had a tough time pumping out the water that was seeping through the compound wall from the nearby stormwater drain (SWD).

Since September 12 late night till September 13 all through the day, residents had to struggle and the disruption in the power supply further increased their woes.

Residents blame that the SWD is not maintained properly and due to the heavy downpour on September 12, rain water mixed with sewage water entered the apartments affecting more than 300 homes. The water stood at 4 foot level and at few places till 2 feet. “The  authorities concerned should maintain the SWD and remove all the encroachments along its way. We are pumping out the water ever since the flooding and fire brigade was called on September 13 at 5 pm. Now the situation is better,” said Sampanth Ramanujan, President, Sai Garden Owners’ Association. He said the situation could go out of hand if the compound wall is damaged.

The authorities and members of Seegehalli Gram Panchayat helped the residents in removing the water. There were no reports of damage to vehicles or human lives.
