Politics of transfer hits babus

10 IAS, 7 IPS and 8 IFS officers shunted out
Last Updated 13 November 2009, 20:06 IST

I R Perumal, who was principal secretary, Food and Civil Supplies Department, has been posted as Commissioner for Sericulture Development and Director of Sericulture. Madan Gopal has been named principal secretary, Food and Civil Supplies Department. E V Ramana Reddy is the new secretary to the department.

The government has transferred 10 IAS officers, besides seven IPS and eight IFS officers.

Madan Gopal has been a victim of the political rivalry between Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and the ministerial trio from Bellary. Yeddyurappa had earlier posted Madan Gopal to the Health Department. The Bellary Reddys forced the chief minister to shift him and brought I R Perumal to the post. After the Reddys openly revolted against Yeddyurappa a fortnight ago, the latter transferred Gopal back to the Health Department hitting back at the rebels. After the warring camps struck a compromise formula, the officer was shunted out of the department again.

Perumal has not been brought back to the department. Instead, Ramana Reddy, known for his efficiency and clean image, has been posted in the place. He is from Andhra Pradesh.

Perumal, it is learnt, had requested Janardhana Reddy to get him transferred to the Health Department a few days ago.
