German expats, consulate members and others celebrated the day of reunification of Germany on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Consul General Bangalore, Joern Rhode highlighted the rapport shared by India and Germany: “India and Germany have had a very long standing and fruitful diplomatic relations. There are more than 150 German companies in India and last year there was a 30 per cent increase in the number of students from India to Germany. We are glad that India has chosen to open an investment promotion office in Germany,” said Rhode.
Governor H R Bhardwaj, who was also a part of the celebrations, spoke of his admiration for the country and its culture.
“In 1987, I visited Berlin in my capacity as a minister. I received a portion of the wall as a gift which I still have with me. The Indo-German relations at present are at its best,” said Bhardwaj.
