Held for piracy

Sriramapuram police have nabbed Habib, 36, a resident of Avalahalli in J P Nagar, on charges of distributing pirated DVDs. They have also recovered Rs 10 lakh worth pirated DVDs from him along with three computers and seized the unit where he was producing the DVDs.

Police said the arrested was working at Sangeet Sagar CD and Cassettes, a shop in Shivajinagar.

Elderly women robbed

Two elderly women were robbed of gold chains in different parts of the City on Thursday morning, police said.

Neelamma, 63, was on a walk near her house in Motappana Palya, Indiranagar, when two unidentified men arrived on a motorcycle, snatched her 40-gm chain and fled around 6.15 am, police added. Indiranagar police have booked a case.  In 2nd Stage of Yelahanka Satellite Town, two miscreants snatched the 40-gm chain of Gangabharathi, 61, who was returning home after buying milk.
