First steps

Natyapriya is presenting the bharatanatyam arangetram of Pravalika V, a disciple of Padmini Ramachandran, on October 6, 6 pm at Ravindra Kalakshetra, JC Road.

Bharatanatyam

A bharatanatyam recital by Lavanya Sundar, a disciple of Shubha Dhananjay, will be held at the The Indian Institute of World Culture, No. 6, BP Wadia Road, Basavanagudi on October 6, 5 pm.         

Interesting acts

Ranga Tantra is staging the play Nanagyaako Doutu, as part of Haasya Naatakotsava 2013 at KH Kalasoudha on October 5, 7 pm. The playwright is  Lakshman Rao. On October 6, 7 pm, the play Sri Krishna Sandhaana by VN Ashwath will be staged.

Mauritian dance

A blend of Mauritian dance forms by a group from Mauritius will be performed on October 5, 6.30 pm at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall. Donor passes are available at www.buzzintown.com, www.bookmyshow.com

Live performance
Singing sensation Sharry Mann will perform live in

Different mediums

An exhibition of paintings, mix-media, digital installations and sculptures by Sanjay Mehta, Sajal K Mitra, Sisir Kumar Datta and Sonali Maitra Paul will be held at the Chitrakala Parishat till October 10. 

For kids

An exhibition of paintings by children, who are attending the art class conducted by sculptor Balan Nambiar, will be held at the Alliance Francaise till October 6.

Shristi festival

The ‘Shristi Dushera National Festival of Music and Dance’ will be held from October 5 to 14 at Ravindra Kalakshetra, Nayana Auditorium and HN Kalakshetra. For details, call 26671853 or log on to ww.dancetherapyindia.com

‘Akshiptika’

Akshiptika 2013, a musical programme, will be held on October 5, 4 pm at Jothi Mandram, Odukathoor Mutt, 13, Gangadhara Chetty Road. At 4 pm, there will be a presentation on ‘Svarakshema and Laya in Music Therapy’ by Sowmya Sanak and Sanak Kumar Athreya. At 4.30 pm, there will be a lecture demonstration on ‘Understanding, appreciating and experiencing laya’ by Anoor Anathakrishna Sharma.

He will be accompanied by Vidwan G Guruprasanna. At 5.30 pm, there will be a grand Carnatic classical concert by K Rajaram (vocal). Shankar Rajan will be on violin and Bangalore R Ramanath will be on mridangam.

‘Deeksha Grand...’

Ace Creative Learning will be conducting ‘Deeksha Grand iCube 2013 — Karnataka’s Largest Young Inventors and Imaginators Competition’ on October 5, 9 am to 4 pm, at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium.

‘Naadatarangini’

Naadatarangini, a grand 50 veena ensemble led by Dr Suma Sudhindra, will be held on October 6, 6.30 pm at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall. This ensemble presents joy of melody and rhythmic combinations through strings and highly-acclaimed artistes and percussion team.

The participating veena artistes are Anuradha Madhusudan, N Ramu, Tara Krishnamurthy, Suparna Ravishankar, Srilatha and Group. The percussion troupe is led by Anoor Anantha Krishna Sharma. For details, visit: www.biaf.co.in

Group exhibition

A group exhibition called ‘Laya – Rhythms of Nature and Dance’ will be held at Gallery IV, Chitrakala Parishat, Kumarakrupa Road till October 10. The gallery is open from 10 am to 7 pm.

Play time

As part of the  ‘Bengaluru  International Arts Festival’, ‘The Importance of Being Draupadi’ by Krishnan Rangaraju will be staged on October 5, 7. 30 pm at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall.

‘Sunday Jam’

‘Sunday Jam’, a platform for musicians and bands of all genres who are interested in
performing live, will be held on October 6 at  GO DESI, 4, 4th Cross, 1st Stage, Peenya.

Art show

Samarpan, an art show on Mahatma Gandhi, will be held till October 11 at KalaRasa Art Gallery, Jayanagar.
