Last Updated 10 October 2013, 21:49 IST

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attacked the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in a strongly worded letter on October 6. Mamata, who has been expressing her displeasure over the Raghuram Rajan Committee Report on condition of states, intimated Mahmohan Singh of her stand.

A day after shifting her office to a new building, the chief minister sent the letter to the PMO in whish she said the committee’s recommendations have changed the status of states and Bengal has lost around 1.5 per cent of Central funds.

Reiterating her demand for a moratorium, Mamata wrote about her opposition to the new system of grading states, a procedure that has received the wholehearted endorsement of Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram. She alleged that the grading was done with political motives and asked for the Rajan report to be quashed immediately. Mamata further urged the prime minister to look into the matter himself so that Bengal’s future is not jeopardised further.
