Union Textile Minister Dr K Sambashiva Rao said that though there is enough human resources, the country lacked skilled workers.

Speaking after inaugurating New Minerva Mill opened by National Textiles Corporation Limited in Hassan on Saturday, he said that there was a great demand for skilled workers in all the fields. The workers should upgrade their skills in the field of their interests, he said.

Many discrepancies were observed in the Mills, where more than 550 persons work. The workers who are putting forth demands on regularisation of jobs, should also work hard and upgrade professional skills, so that the organisation realises the importance of the workers. Skilled workers will have the power to stress on wage revision and other incentives, Rao said.

If the produce of the Mill is of high quality, a processing unit will also be opened in the district at a cost of Rs 170 crore. He motivated the workers that if the factory is successful, the government was ready to spend Rs 200 to 300 crore for its overall upgradation.

Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, MLA H S Prakash, MLC Patel Shivaram, NTTF president and Managing Director R K Sinha were present.
