'Fashionista-2014’, an exhibition-cum-sale organised by the students of fashion and apparel designing of Oxford College of Science, was a huge hit among the visitors.

The exhibition provided a platform for youngsters studying subjects like garment designing, jewellery making, accessories making and lifestyle products to showcase their talent and reach out to a number of people.

The students also learnt the various processes of making fabrics and jewellery while the ones who visited the exhibition got an in-depth look into industry methods, fabrics and textiles alongside finished and unfinished pieces.

The products were made from recycled materials and fabrics.

Around 300 accessories from the 1990s to 2014 were displayed by the students.

The fair also showcased garments for all ages along with gifts, home accessories, tableware, paper products, office and stationery goods, floristry, handicraft supplies, art products, jewelery and seasonal goods.

It was a great opportunity for students to indulge in fashion and find out more about how clothes and accessories are made.

The students did an excellent job exploring the creative and technical side of the fashion industry under the guidance of their teachers.Dhanya, a student, said that making the garments and jewellery was a gruelling process but the hard work paid off.

“Our work was appreciated and applauded by everyone who visited the exhibition. It was a great success and the best part was that we could sell off many of the exhibits that we had made. From clothes to different kinds of funky accessories, we made sure that each piece was different and looked trendy,” she said.

Besides clothes and accessories, students also made various show pieces like picture frames and wall hangings.

While some made simple yet elegant show pieces, many came up with ornate and decorative show pieces.

Madhu, a student, said that it was a good platform for them to get noticed.

“It was a great show. Not only did we get a chance to explore our creative abilities, we also got a chance to see how talented our friends are. I enjoyed picking out my favourites,” she noted.
