Farmers struggle to get RTCs to start farm activities

Following showers, ryots throng Nemmadi Kendra

Upbeat over rainfall over the past one week and hopeful of more rains, farmers are thronging the Nemmadi Kendra to get their RTCs, which will help them avail benefits extended by the government.

However, there are finding it difficult to get their land records.

On Tuesday, farmers from neighbouring villages had queued up before the kendra, in the town. As the queue grew longer, the farmers became restless. Manjappa from Hebbale said, he had waited for the whole day on Monday, but had to return empty-handed as the person manning the kendra said the server was down. “We want to start farming as it is raining. But, our time is wasted in waiting to get the papers,” he complained.

INTUC State unit secretary and farmer N M Muthappa said, apart from complaints like server not working for long duration, the paper required to print the RTCs are in short supply. “Sometimes farmers have to make rounds to the kendra for three to four days, wait for long hours to successfully get their copies of land records,” he said.
