Govt notifies reservation for posts in zilla panchayats

The Rural Development and Panchayat Raj department has notified reservation of posts -- president and vice-president -- in 30 zilla panchayats, in the State.

The reservation will be applicable when election will be held for these posts.
The reservation list was gazetted on April 16 after taking permission from the Election Commission.

For Bangalore (Urban) ZP, the post of president has been reserved for general category while that of the vice-president for general (woman).

For Bangalore (Rural) ZP, the post of president has been reserved for general category (woman) while that of the vice-president for BC-A (Backwardclass-A category)
The reservation list has been drawn as per the guidelines stipulated by the Karnataka High Court in October 2012.
