The High Court on Wednesday ordered issuance of non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Chief Electrical Inspector as he had failed to appear before the court, despite its directions.

Justice Ram Mohan Reddy ordered the NBW and directed that he be produced before the court in the next hearing on July 16.

The court issued the warrant, while hearing a petition by Ashwini Manoj Patil, who contended that her husband Manoj Patil died on May 18, 2013 due to electrocution on a rainy day after he came in contact with the fence of the transformers opposite Kaati Zone restaurant on Church Street. The petitioner has sought compensation from Bescom.

School dropouts

The government advocate has submitted to the High Court that a campaign to bring back Out of School Children will be conducted from July 15 to July 31.

The counsel said that there are 91,200-odd children still out of school and the department of primary and secondary education is making efforts to bring all children back to school through the campaign. A division bench headed by Chief Justice D H Waghela adjourned the hearing to August 12.

Govt told to file affidavit

The High Court has directed the State government to file an affidavit about the ‘personal responsibility of the officers’ who are responsible to remove encroachments on footpaths.

Hearing a PIL, a division bench headed by Chief Justice D H Waghela directed the BBMP counsel to ensure that all kinds of encroachment are removed from the footpaths and to make way for pedestrians to move freely.

The court directed the government and BBMP counsels to submit their documents in the next hearing on July 22.
