Be it monsoon, winter or summer, there is no special season to relish our very traditional dessert – kulfi. Summers are undoubtedly an exceptional season where everything cold comes as a saviour.

Somehow, it is the kulfi that soothes our parched throats with flavours of fruit and milk combined together.

Also available in varieties like pista, badam and kesar, a plateful of kulfi with falooda on a hot summer day is always a treat.

Says chef Sanjeev Sharma of the BrewMaster restaurant, Kirti Nagar, “In terms of traditional desserts there is nothing to beat kulfi, but somehow it has not received its due.”

Therefore, the restaurant is offering a sumptuous feast of Kulfi – Kulfi Ki Bahaar to help people connect with their roots and sweet tooth!

“This festival is a perfect opportunity for sweet lovers in town to relish a wide variety and rarely served varieties of kulfi. The guests are sure to relish paan flavoured, which is not a regular kind and Paan Waali Kulfi which will leave them with a delightful after taste.

Another classic Kesari Malai Kulfi with classic creamy sugar mixed kesar is sure to delight the taste buds of regulars and food connoisseurs alike,” says Sharma
enticingly.

“Complementing the offering are Pista Badam Kulfi, Aam Wali Kulfi, Narangi Faldari Kulfi and altogether not heard or served kulfi  – Coffee Walnut Kulfi, which are sure to offer guests an experience to remember,” he adds.

Keeping in mind the tastes of children, as they need to be served with something special, the festival will have specially prepared swirled chocolate draped Chocolate
Nutty Kulfi.

And how can we forget our City’s popular kulfiwallah  – Kuremal Kulfi in Old Delhi! Situated in Sitaram Bazar, the shop has been serving kulfi since 1908.

They have more than 50 varieties of kulfi like rose, custard, pineapple, pomegranate and other fruit flavours. The most popular is orange and mango-stuffed kulfi. As it is the season of mango, stuffed mango kulfi is mostly in demand.

The mango seed and some portion of the pulp is removed from the fruit which is then replaced with rabri and plain kulfi mixture. It is then kept in the freezer, and thereafter, after removing the mango skin it is served to the kulfi lovers.

There are other places too in the City offering a variety of kulfi for years. Check out  Nathu Sweets and Pastry Shop in Bengali Market, Roshan Di Kulfi in Karol Bagh, Charan Singh Natural Fruit Kulfi in South Extension Market, Part II, Bengali Sweet House in Cannaught Place are just some of them.
