The BJP MPs and ministers on Tuesday got an earful from Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu for turning up late which delayed parliamentary party meeting, giving an impression that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s advise to members to take proceedings seriously has fallen on deaf ears.

Party sources said that Naidu was peeved finding that some of MPs and even ministers were not on time to start the meeting despite the fact that prime minister had arrived in parliament much before the time and was waiting.

Naidu later instructed the members and ministers to be in parliament at 9:25 am on days when the parliamentary party meetings are due to take place. Naidu also instructed MPs  to consult authorised top party leaders of their Houses first before moving cut motion or adjournment motion to participate in parliamentary debates.

The MPs have also been barred from going abroad during the parliamentary sessions.

The members have also been instructed not to push their names for becoming part of parliamentary committees which are still to be formed.
