A unique honour

The distinctive Titanium Edge skeletal wristwatch by Titan Company Limited received an honourable mention at the Red Dot Awards for the best product design, 2014, making the company the only Indian one to win in the ‘Watches and Jewellery’ category.

Titanium Edge has succeeded to win this for two years in a row. Speaking about this accolade, HG Raghunath, CEO Watches and Accessories Division, Titan Company Limited, said, “Great design and innovation is at the heart of all products. We are very proud that Titanium Edge is recognised as one of the best designed products in the world.”

Known for being the slimmest quartz in the world, the watch is not more than 4mm thick and weighs 34 grams. The countoured matte case is fashioned from a single piece of titanium and houses a wafer thin jewelled analogue quartz.

Supported by a skeletal framework, the eclipsed layout of the dial and transparent glass floor give the timepiece a look of airy transparency and delicate design. The watch is also available in a sporty version, designed with carbon fibre detailing and a sleek golf patterned leather strap to give it a contemporary look..

Talking at the conference, Sanil Dhadwal, design head, said, “It is a design wonder and has been created with high precision. It is indeed a proud moment for us to be recognised as a key contributor in designing the product which has now set a benchmark in international product design.”
