Rs 68-crore solar power plant at Shivanasamudra

Bangalore-based Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) will set up a 10 MW solar power plant for the Karnataka Power Corporation Limited ( KPCL), at Shivanasamudra, Belakavadi village, Mandya.

It has bagged an order of Rs 68 crore for the plant, said a press release.

Three-year maintenance

Apart from commissioning of the plant, BHEL’s scope of work in the turnkey contract with the KPCL includes grid inter-connection, operation and maintenance of the plant for three years.   
The company which is a Central government undertaking had earlier executed similar projects for the KPCL by installing a 3MW solar power plant near Raichur and a 5MW solar plant at Belakavadi village.

Projects outside the State

BHEL is installing its single largest 15MW grid-connected solar power plant for the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) at Singrauli in Madhya Pradesh.

The company is also executing orders to commission solar plants totalling up to 25MW for customers such as Neyveli Lignite Corporation, Electricity Department of Daman and Diu and Orissa Power Corporation Limited among others, the press release said.
