Muslim donates land for temple

Mohammad Fakhrool Islam of Begusarai district, around 250 km from the state Capital, did not bat an eyelid before donating his two katthas of land for the construction of a Shiva temple at a place which is dominated by the Muslims.

Neither was he concerned about any fatwa nor his spirits dampened by the veiled threat from any self-styled Maulana.

All he had in mind was the rare gesture shown by Hindus 30 years back when they had donated a piece of land for the construction of a majar.

The majar was constructed after collecting contributions from Hindus as well as Muslims. Such is its religious significance that even Hindus offer chadar on this majar at this nondescript village in Bachwara. Amid all the communal amity, the police took no chance and deployed adequate force when the foundation stone for the Shiva temple was laid by a village. The villagers said donations would be collected from Hindus as well as Muslims.
