The Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (Kassia) has called for speedy implementation of the new industrial policy.

The association, in a memorandum to the chief minister, has also sought issuance of a notification on abolition of trade licences.

Terming the government’s move to allot land on 99 years lease as a retrograde step, particularly to small scale industries, it has urged the government to allot land below three acres only to micro and small industries under 10 years lease-cum-sale basis and exempt from 99 years lease.

Calling for uniform tax policy in line with the industrial zones, the association has stressed the need to exempt the SME sector from the tax on electricity consumption, observing there was shortage of quality power supply in the State.
