Lokayukta raids on officials net assets worth Rs 9.7 cr

The Lokayukta police on Tuesday raided seven government officials and seized illegal assets to the tune of Rs 9.7 crore. 

The simultaneous raids were conducted in Chitradurga, Kolar, Mysore, Ramanagar, Shimoga, Tumkur and Yadgir districts.

The officials raided are: Assistant Executive Engineer at Karnataka Industrial Development and Finance Corporation Ltd in Bangalore, N B Seetharamu; Commissioner, City Municipal Council in Kolar, K N Jagadish; Child Development Project Officer in HD Kote at Mysore, E Ramakrishnaiah; Deputy Tahsildar at Banashankari Nada Kacheri Bangalore South, Shivananjappa; Junior Assistant at Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation in Shimoga, U Shivananda; FDA at District Institute for Education and Training in Tumkur N Umesh and Assistant Executive Engineer of Panchayat Raj Engineering Division at Shahapur in Yadgir, Bhimaraya Kawaldar. 

The police said that Child Development Project Officer in HD Kote, Ramakrishnaiah, owned immovable property worth Rs 4.19 crore, including investments in construction business. 

The police traced documents of 16 sites in and around Mysore. The officer also owned movable assets worth 5 crore, including 3 cars, bank balances (worth Rs 15 lakh). A locker held in Indian Overseas Bank is yet to be searched, an official said. 

K N Jagadish, Commissioner, City Municipal Council in Kolar, owns immovable property worth Rs 24.14 lakh, including a two-storey house in Kolar. He also owns movable property worth Rs 60 lakh. 

The Lokayukta police unearthed Rs 1.19 crore worth immovable assets from Shivananjappa, Deputy Tahsildar, Banashankari Nada Kacheri Bangalore South. The official owned 10 different properties in and around Bangalore. The official also owned movable assets worth Rs 21.62 lakh. 

In raids at Tumkur, the officials found immovable assets worth Rs 1 crore from First Division Assistant N Umesh.  The officials have also found movable assets worth Rs 45 lakh.
