After SpiceJet, IndiGo enters fare war

Low-cost carrier IndiGo on Tuesday joined the fresh round of airfare war between airlines with the announcement of flights with all-inclusive fares starting from Rs 999, a day after competitor SpiceJet announced an early bird sale.

The all-inclusive one-way fares are valid for bookings that are made 90 days in advance. A Bangalore-Delhi flight ticket costs Rs 4,829 under the promotional fare, while a ticket for September 4 otherwise costs between Rs 8,029 and Rs 12,698.
A Delhi-Chennai flight ticket can be bought at Rs 4,642, while the lowest price is for a Delhi to Jaipur ticket at Rs 999. IndiGo has also chosen routes in which AirAsia India is flying.

SpiceJet trigger

SpiceJet on Monday launched a promotional scheme for domestic destinations starting at Rs 499, which includes fuel surcharge but excludes applicable statutory taxes and fees.

According to a SpiceJet statement, seats are limited and its offer is be available on a first-come first-served basis for its three-day sale, which began on Monday.

SpiceJet, whose sale will end on Wednesday, had claimed that it had sold over one lakh tickets on day one of the sale.
