A fetish for fashion

Pooja Gajraj, a fashion stylist, has always dabbled with fashion in some way or the other. She studied B.Sc in fashion and apparel design in Mount Carmel College and did her post graduation in fashion styling in Milan. “I got an opportunity to intern with Narendra Kumar when I returned but Mumbai wasn’t a choice for me. I have always been a Bangalore girl and wanted to come back here,” she notes.

She started working in the field of marketing full-time in the City and kept pursuing fashion on the side. “Though I was working in a day job in marketing for soft skills training, I was always freelancing in the field of fashion. I recently gave up my job to pursue fashion full-time,” she notes. “Now I am about to launch my own online business which is related to personal shopping and styling. I also style for shoots and conduct soft skills classes on grooming and power dressing,” she adds.

Pooja will be styling the models at the grand finale of the ‘Metrolife Fashion Show’. She got associated with the event thanks to Mithilesh Nyathappa, who has been the choreographer of the show since its inception. She recalls that she met him during her days in MCC. “I worked with him as a student and have known him for eight years now. Though we have different fields of expertise, we have worked together many times,” she says.

This is Pooja’s first tryst with ‘Metrolife Fashion Show’ and she is highly excited. “This is my first time with the ‘Metrolife Fashion Show’ and I am really looking forward to it. I see it as a good opportunity to give exposure to a lot of new talent,” she exclaims. “The show is one of the biggest stages to put across growing talent,” she adds.

Bangalore is becoming a highly fashionable City, according to her. “The people here are starting to be more concerned about style. So it’s great to see the show putting more ideas, particularly international, in the minds of the youth and upping their fashion quotient. I can’t wait to see how it turns out,” she says excitedly.
