The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) has made it mandatory for builders and developers to get the necessary clearances from the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), if the project is coming under the Palike limits.

In a circular issued to all the Bescom engineers and officers  on Tuesday, S V Govindaraju, Bescom Chief General Manager (Electricity), said any building taller than 50 feet, falling under Palike limits, should necessarily have the Occupancy Certificate and Possession Certificate issued by the Palike. Permanent power connection should be given only if a No Objection Certificate by the Karnataka State Fire Safety Department has been issued, along with the aforementioned certificates, he added.

The circular was issued on the basis of BBMP Commissioner M Lakshminarayana’s letter dated August 27, asking Bescom not to supply power to residential or commercial projects without Palike’s approval. He had stated that it had become pertinent to check violations, including building plans, resulting in problems.
Palike’s technical committee discussed its Commissioner’s letter in a meeting on September 15, where it was decided to issue a circular to all the engineers and officials of Bescom.
