Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is scheduled to meet Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pusapati on Tuesday in New Delhi to discuss the development of regional airports in Karnataka.

The chief minister is likely to seek the Centre’s assistance to implement Gulbarga and Shimoga greenfield airports projects, which have remained incomplete.

Besides, the issue of expansion of Mysore airport will be discussed with the Union minister, sources said.

The State government had recently terminated the contract for implementing Gulbarga and Shimoga airports as the promoters failed to complete the projects as scheduled.

Almost 80 per cent of the Gulbarga airport project is complete, while about 70 per cent of the Shimoga airport project is still pending. The State government wants Airports Authority of India to take up these projects and complete them, sources said.

The chief minister is scheduled to leave for Delhi at 10 am from Bangalore. He will return the same day.
