Driver gets 10 years RI for raping minor

 The VI Additional District and Sessions Court sentenced Harish Gowda, autorickshaw driver from Kalenja Village, Belthangady Taluk, convicted of raping a minor girl, to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000.

The court, in its judgement, held Harish guilty of raping the minor and pronounced the punishment. On September 13, 2012 Harish Gowda had offered to drop the girl to her uncle’s house. But, instead took her to a secluded place, where he sexually assaulted her. A case was registered in Uppinangady police station.

Pronouncing the judgement, Judge Pushpanjali Devi sentenced the accused to 10 year’s of rigorous imprisonment for raping the girl, seven years RI for abduction and two years RI for threatening her. During the hearing, 18 witnesses had deposed before the court.
