The City police are yet to take a decision on allowing the proposed Kiss of Love event proposed to be organised in the City on November 30.

The issue has turned controversial with the organisers and those who oppose it approaching the police, one seeking permission for the event and the other urging the police not to allow it. The police are buying time to consider all aspects of the event before taking a decision.

“It is not about rejecting permission to an application seeking to hold the event. Nor it is about according the permission to the event. It is about legal framework and abiding by the law,” DCP (Central) Sandeep Patil told Deccan Herald.

The organisers of the event met Patil on Wednesday and submitted an application formally seeking permission. The organisers have sought permission for November 30 to hold the event. The application lacked many minute descriptions. The police sought more clarification about the event and directed the organisers to provide the details sought by the police, said the DCP.

Meanwhile, Sri Rama Sene chief Pramod Muthalik and his associates met the DCP (Central) on Thursday and submitted a petition urging him not to permit the proposed event. They termed the event illegal, unethical and against the Hindu culture. They pointed out that such events would only spoil healthy atmosphere in the society. The police told him that they would surely not permit the event if it violates the law.

“We are analysing both the applications and are considering legalities. We will take suitable action at the earliest as per the law,” Patil said.

Later, Muthalik told reporters that Hindu and Kannada organisations will take to the streets if permission was granted, and warned that there could be law and order problems.
