Woman held for robbing elderly men

The Subramanyapura police have arrested a 36-year-old woman who used to rob elderly men of their gold ornaments.

Police have identified the woman as Asha, involved in more than ten cases of chain snatching and robbery. She used to introduce herself as a police officer in mufti and ask her victims to come to police station for an inquiry. “Later, she would say that there was complaint of eve teasing against them. When the victims were in a state of shock, she would ask them to take off their gold ornaments and walk away with them,” DCP (South) B S Lokesh Kumar said.

Her another modus operandi was to seek a drop by motorcyclists and after travelling for a distance raise an alarm alleging sexual harassment. The gullible riders would give away their gold ornaments as demanded by her fearing police complaints, the police said.
During the interrogation, Asha told the police that she was into robbery to set-up her own boutique. She had also bought a luxury car.

Maid arrested
Chennammana Kere Acchukattu police have arrested a maid who had stolen jewellery from flats at Sterling Terraces Apartment on 100 feet ring road. Kamala alias Kumari of Ittamadu had decamped with a diamond necklace and gold and silver ornaments from T M Shivakumar’s house. The police have recovered jewellery worth Rs five lakh from the accused.
