Uttar Pradesh Assembly was adjourned sine die on Tuesday, three days ahead of the schedule, after the opposition members created a ruckus over different issues.

The House witnessed sharp exchanges between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP) members.

Senior minister Azam Khan’s remark on the RTI query filed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s wife Jashodaben infuriated the saffron party members and they trouped into the well of the House shouting anti-government slogans.

Khan’s remarks came after the BJP members referred to the state government’s indictment by the SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav.

The winter session of the Assembly had started on November 14 and was scheduled to last till November 28. The state government had, during the session, tabled a supplementary budget of about Rs 15,000 crore for the ongoing financial year.

The supplementary budget provided for Rs 10 crore for construction of a sports stadium at Safai, the native village of the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. It also made a provision of Rs 17.29 lakh for beautification of the airport at Saifai.

The session witnessed regular adjournments after the opposition members disrupted proceedings of the House on one or the other issues.
