Bengaluru goes with sobriquets such as Silicon Valley and Garden City. But, going by incidents of blasts and terror-related arrests in the past few years, there are already questions being asked as to whether it is actually a terror hub.

It was on December 28 in 2005 that Bengaluru witnessed the first major terror attack when ultras opened fire at scientists at the Indian Institute of Science.

Over the last nine years, the City has witnessed five terror incidents, four of them between 2008 and 2014.

Interestingly, two attacks took place on April 17 and two on December 28.

-December 28,  2005: Prof Munish Chandra Puri of IIT, Delhi, was killed and four others were injured when two or more unidentified gunmen fired at Puri and others.

-July 25, 2008: A series of nine bombs exploded in the City; two people were killed and 20 were injured.

-April 17, 2010: Two bombs exploded in a heavily packed M Chinnaswamy Stadium; 15 people were injured.

-April 17, 2013: Bombs exploded near BJP office on Temple Street, 11th Cross, Malleswaram; 16 were injured.

- December 28, 2014: A low intensity bomb exploded at a bar on Church Street, killing one and injuring two others.
