The High Court on Thursday allowed marriages scheduled to be held on January 23 and 24 at a community hall belonging to HAL’s Aircraft Employees Co-operative Society Ltd. The BBMP had locked the hall on January 19 on the grounds that the society did not hold any trade licence.

Justice B V Nagarathna while directing the BBMP to open the locks till February 3, observed that ‘court manages marriages, postpones divorces,’ hence the scheduled marriages will not be stopped.

A similar petition related to Shiva Parvathi Kalyana Mantapa in Banaswadi was also heard where the marriages scheduled for February 11, 12 and 23 were allowed. The bench directed the owners of the halls to produce necessary documents and directed them not to trouble the third parties in these matters.
