57 lakh new bank accounts opened

 As many as 57 lakh new bank accounts have been opened in the State under the Centre’s Jan Dhan scheme.

According to the statistics obtained from the State-level bankers committee, about 98.57 per cent of households have been covered under the scheme. The State has 1.32 crores households as per the 2011 population census. The lead banks in the State have conducted house-to-house survey of about 1.29 crore households under the scheme.
