Known as glib talker, actor Shah Rukh Khan candidly said he doesn't deserve an award for his performance in Happy New Year, which was one of the biggest box office hits of 2014.

When asked to share his thoughts about not being nominated in any category in an upcoming film award function, Shah Rukh was bold enough to say that as an actor he fell short of delivering a good performance in the film.

"I haven't acted well enough," the Bollywood star told DNA. "I cannot be nominated for acting for Happy New Year. Yes, the film has done very well but as an actor I don't think I deserve to be nominated."

The fan following for the star for his style of hosting award shows is on par with his fan base for his acting.

He also added that he has been hosting award shows and he knows that there are "seven others or rather seventy other people who are better than him. "

'Happy New Year', produced under Shah Rukh's banner Red Chillies, and directed by choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan was widely ridiculed. However, the film managed to collect Rs 350 crore worldwide within three weeks of its release.

One of the prominent personalities, who criticized the film in public was actor-politician Jaya Bachchan, whose son Abhishek Bachchan was also part of the film.

During the Mumbai Literature Festival last year, Jaya  said "Happy New year was the most nonsensical film that she has seen in recent years."
