Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal resignation as Delhi chief minister continues to haunt the party and workers are grappling with the issue at the ground level because propaganda unleashed by both the BJP and the Congress centres around it.

The party has asked its workers to explain to the people the circumstances in which the decision to resign was taken and assure them that it will not happen again.

A meeting of party workers was called this week to gear them up for a more determined campaign. The meeting that was addressed by senior party leaders including Yogendra Yadav, Anand Kumar, Ajit Jha,  Alok Agrawal and Harish Khanna discussed ground level and coordination issues when workers put their problems before the leaders.

Workers said that the ground level campaign by the BJP and the Congress is still revolving around Kejriwal’s resignation.

“They (workers of BJP and the Congress) say that Kejriwal and his associates enjoy doing dharnas; they cannot govern and they will again quit,” workers after workers raised the issue.

“Please explain to them that the decision had to be taken because there was no other option. Congress which had given its support in writing joined BJP in opposing the Jan Lokpal Bill. There was no way  to continue the government,” leaders advised workers to tell the people.

The leaders also told workers to impress upon the people that the only mistake which the party made was not to organise a referendum.  “Kejriwal  has publicly accepted the mistake, remind the people,” the leaders told the workers.

Workers also complained that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the BJP were also raising communal issues in areas where there are sizable minority population. They have been advised to stress unity of various communities besides highlighting the achievements AAP’s 49 days in office.

“This is the most important thing you have to tell the people. We gave a clean and corruption free government and tried to fulfil the promises we had made about bijli and paani,” leaders told the workers.

The party also asked workers to prepare a list of local problems in their areas, so that if any issue has been left out, it could be added to the party agenda.
