Widow gang-raped in moving bus in R'than

In yet another horrific incident of atrocities against women, a 32-year-old woman was raped by two people inside a moving bus in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan on Thursday.

Taking prompt action, the police have arrested all three accused. The incident was first reported to the Haryana Police,  which later informed the Rajasthan Police.

According to the police, the woman was raped when she was traveling to Luharu in Haryana from Pilani in Rajasthan at 7:30 in the morning. Finding her alone, the driver and conductor of the bus raped her.

Superintendent of police Jhunjhunu, Surendra Kumar Gupta said the woman is resident of a village near Luharu area in district Haryana. She is a widow and was traveling in the sleeper coach at the time of the incident.

“She was the lone passenger in the bus and was raped first by the conductor Kalia (36),a resident of Peepli village, and later by the unidentified driver. After the incident, they left her at a secluded place and moved on,” said Surendra Kumar.

After reaching Luharu, she approached the local police and lodged a complaint. The police officials of Luharu later informed Pilani police station in Rajasthan.

The Rajasthan police has registered an FIR under section 376 of IPC and has called the victim to Rajasthan for further investigation. Immediately after the FIR, police swung into action and arrested the driver, conductor and cleaner of the sleeper coach bus. The medical examination of the woman has been conducted and her statement will be recorded on Friday, in presence of magistrate.
