Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsangh Chalak Mohan Bhagwat, on Sunday, chanted the mantra of ‘unity in diversity’.

Addressing the gathering of international delegates, after inaugurating the five-day fifth International Conference and Gathering of Elders on ‘Universal Wellbeing’, organised by the International Center for Cultural Studies in association with World Congress of Ethnic Religions, at Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Ashrama, in the city, Bhagwat said: “Oneness is the truth and we have to accept diversities and sustain culture, community and nature too”.

Giving a call against discriminating people on the basis of their culture and tradition, Bhagwat said, “We should develop the attitude of acceptance and tolerance and nobody should be subject to prosecution for the only reason that they belong to a different culture”.

Bhagwat said, “One has to unify at least at the god’s summit. During Vaishnodevi Yatra, after trekking up to some point, the devotees have to pass through a narrow path or a tunnel, irrespective of their physique; taller or shorter, slab or fat”.

Earlier, delving on the topic of universal wellbeing, Bhagwat said: “If wellbeing has to materialise, the concept of universe has to be understood. However, the world is yet to realise that universe is a mix of different sets of people, who are also inter-related”.

Over 100 foreign delegates from 41 countries are attending the conference. The delegates representing different cultures rendered verses from their land.

Pak troupe stopped

A seven-member tribal troupe from Pakistan, who were scheduled to attend the ongoing international conference and gathering of elders, in Mysuru, have been stranded at the airport in their homeland.

According to sources, the Pakistani troupe is stranded as their passports are yet to be cleared by the airport authorities. Though there are no specific reasons behind the delay in clearance, it is learnt that they were stopped for screening, the moment the airport authorities learnt about their purpose of visit.

The organisers exude confidence that the Pakistani delegates may join the conference in a day or two.

Why Mysuru?

The City of Palaces, Mysuru, also popular as the Cultural Capital became the natural choice of the organisers for the international conference. The previous conferences were held at Mumbai, Jaipur, Nagpur and Haridwar. Down South, Mysuru is the first city to host the conference.
