Last Updated 25 March 2015, 19:32 IST

A woman, who is suspected to have conspired with her paramour and two others to murder her husband, has landed in police net. The three other suspects were also arrested.

Police said Yashodha, a native of Hosur taluk in Tamil Nadu, was having an affair with Murugesh, who hails from the same taluk, for the last three years. Her husband, Venkatesh, who worked as a carpenter, got wind of the affair and confronted her. He fought with her and asked her to end it. Instead, Yashodha told Murugesh about Venkatesh’s warning, the Mico Layout police said.

Murugesh got cracking and decided to murder Venkatesh. He learnt that Venkatesh was building a house and had sought money from his neighbour, Raghupathy. Murugesh approached Raghupathy and offered him money if he co-opted in the plan to kill Venkatesh.

Murugesh also roped in his relative, Paramesh. He then set up a plot.

Accordingly, on March 19, Raghupathy took Venkatesh to the RTO in BTM Layout 4th Stage on the pretext of giving him money. Murugesh and Paramesh joined them soon afterwards. The three men then made Venkatesh have some drinks. When he got drunk, they slit his throat and fled the spot.

According to the police, they got the lead in the case after it emerged that the last call on Venkatesh’s mobile phone was made to Raghupathy. When they detained him for questioning, he spilled the beans in no time, the police said.
