Several Bollywood celebrities have come out in support of actress Anushka Sharma who has been a subject of online bullying after India's loss in the semi finals of the cricket World Cup.

The 29-year-old actress had travelled all the way to Sydney to support her boyfriend cricketer Virat Kohli for the match but was trolled online and blamed for India's loss and the batsman's poor performance.

Actress Priyanka Chopra condemned the online attack on Anushka saying, "So horrible to see a supportive girlfriend being lynched for a game she just watched!! Stop with the disrespect! #StillBleedBlue @AnushkaSharma."

Filmmaker Subhash Ghai tweeted, "It's extremely petty on any one's part to blame or mock such a decent woman @anushkasharma for a cricket failure. Let's be proud of her talent."

"With you my dear Anushka! Bunch of uneducated idiots who target you. Been through this damn thing," veteran actor Rishi Kapoor posted on Twitter.

Director Rahul Dholakia said, "All those blaming @AnushkaSharma and @imVkohli please stop your ridiculous rants. Get a reality check. Today we were beaten by a better side."

Calling the comments on Anushka disgusting, actress Dia Mirza said, "It's ok to be disappointed or critical. But these comments about Anushka are downright disgusting."

Former Miss Universe and actress Sushmita Sen said, "So happy to see @AnushkaSharma be there to support her man and her country!! Those mocking her, pick another sport.. India's spirit and cricket is not for you."

Actresses Surveen Chawla and Sonal Chauhan also came out in support of Anushka.
