As personal as it gets

Mira’s Dial-Á-Cake’ is unique in every way. Be it cake pops, cupcakes or fondant cakes — every item of theirs is visually-appealing  and has stories to share.

Started by Mridula and Ratan in 2012, the duo have a production unit on Kanakapura Road and deliver custom cakes, according to the requirements and specifications by many customers.

Ratan says, “People mainly order for birthdays, weddings and get-together parties and each person has a story to share during such events. We have baked cakes that have looked like laptops, books, clothes, shoes and even characters from shows. Everybody has a story to tell and it’s fun and challenging when we try to say it with a cake.”

They have been baking birthday cakes, cakes for baby showers, weddings, anniversaries, festivals and even egg-less one. Ratan adds, “Since it’s not always possible to customise a cake exactly as the requirement, we eventually tweak it in the end, so that the cake doesn’t look too cluttered. However, we try to keep much of what the customer wants. Our unique selling point is the fact that we are in touch with the customer throughout the process. A few of our customers also help us bake the cake which adds a personal feel to the product.” 

‘Mira’s Dial-A-Cake’ uses fresh ingredients and add no preservatives to their products. Ratan adds, “We want our cakes to look visually appealing. For this, we employ an eclectic mix of workers — from experienced bakers, artistes and even people who work with clay — for intricate detailing, neat finishes and a striking look, especially for the fondant cakes.”

The bakery has received a lot of requests and private messages from youngsters in Delhi and Pune and hence are thinking of expanding their base to these two cities. They are also planning to strengthen their delivery infrastructure in the City. “Our goal is not to make a 100 cakes each weekend but to impress the customer with what little bake,” says Ratan.
