Boy falls into borewell, dies

In a tragic incident, a two-and half year old boy, who was rescued from a 450 ft deep borewell at Koorampadi village in Arcot Taluk in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu, died in the hospital on Sunday.

The boy Tamizharasan, son of farmer Kutti, was playing in an open farmland, when he slipped and fell into the open borewell in the morning.

The kid, who got stuck at 25 feet, was pulled out after nine hours of rescue operation, did not respond to the treatment and died in the hospital.

Rescue operations were carried out by digging a pit adjacent to the borewell while oxygen was supplied into the hole.

The fire-service personnel heaved a sigh of relief when he was taken out of the borewell and rushed to the nearby government hospital. However, the boy died after he was brought to the hospital.
