Daughters are special: Amitabh Bachchan

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who will be next seen in "Piku" -- a film that revolves around a father-daughter relationship, says daughters bring joy, happiness and luck to a household.

"Daughters are special ! They are Saraswati, they are Lakshmi, they are Sita and Durga .. they are Ma and Maata .. they are so we are ..

"They come to us by birth. They embrace our lives with the warmth and the comfort of 'the lady in the house'. They bring the light in the darkness, the quenching of thirst on parched throats, the twinkle of little bells when they move, their khilkhilahat is the most pleasant and expectant sound in any home. They build homes. They guide our paths...," Bachchan wrote on his blog.

Bachchan, 72, proud father of Shweta Bachchan-Nanda, said he felt lucky to be at a point in his life where his real and reel life are in sync.

"I am with daughter by my side these days. Shweta at home, PIKU in the profession, and the feel of their presence, sound and worth. I am blessed and honoured in both. My real and my reel meet up. It rarely happens, but it has in this...," he said.

The "Shamitabh" star attended a special screening of director Mani Ratnam's latest Tamil film "O Kadhal Kanmani" last evening with Shweta.

"Shweta and I get to see Mani Ratnam's new and fresh Tamil film at a trial, and it is a sweet and endearing story of love among the young."
