Hacker group Anonymous India claims to have brought down Indian telecom regulator Trai's website following the public release of email IDs of those who had supported net neutrality.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) had floated a consultation paper on putting in place a regulatory framework for over-the-top (OTT) services on March 27. It had set April 24 as the last date to submit comments to the paper, which may decide its future course on net neutrality.
An online campaign had built up urging netizens to send their support for net neutrality and Trai had subsequently received over 10 lakh petitions. On Monday, Trai released the names and email IDs of those who had sent their petitions, angering Anonymous India.
