With India being quick to launch a massive relief and rescue operation in Nepal, several other nations keen to join the humanitarian efforts in the Himalayan country are coordinating with New Delhi.

While Nepalese government itself has limited capability to respond to the natural disaster of such a magnitude, the United States, Japan, Australia, Singapore, Israel, Germany, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bhutan rushed men and materials to Kathmandu and many of them sought assistance from New Delhi to help them join the operations.

Israel has sent planes carrying assessment teams, search and rescue experts and medical personnel and supplies to Nepal.  Tel Aviv’s envoy to New Delhi, Daniel Carmon, has been in contact with Indian government to coordinate relief effort by Israel. He lauded constructive response from Indian authorities.

“I am thankful to my Indian counterparts for their facilitation,” said Carmon who also pointed out that the people and government of Israel cannot stay indifferent to the tragedy of the people who were affected by the earthquake.

“We are extending our heartfelt condolences to the people and governments of Nepal and India”.

A press release issued by the Israel Embassy in New Delhi stated that its staff would join their colleagues in the mission in Kathmandu to assist the overall coordination of Israeli humanitarian efforts in the aftermath of the Nepal earthquake.

“First planes carrying assessment teams, search and rescue experts and medical personnel and supplies are on their way from Israel to Kathmandu, under direct instruction of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu,” the Israel Embassy in New Delhi stated.
