The Department for North-Eastern Region (DoNER) has decided to probe allegations of corruption and siphoning off Central funds allocated to Arunachal Pradesh for developmental works in the state.

The DoNER announced its decision on Monday, after 11 opposition MLAs levelled corruption charges against the state government.

“DoNER Minister Jitendra Singh has ordered a probe,” ministry sources confirmed to Deccan Herald.
Sources further added that the MLAs alleged embezzlement of  Central sponsored funds to the tune of over Rs 900 crore in Arunachal Pradesh related to the non-lapsable central pool of resources (NLCPR) and North Eastern Council (NEC) against projects sanctioned during financial years 2011-12 to 2014-15.

The delegation of MLAs who complained the anomalies  included Tamiyo Taga, Leader of Opposition in Arunachal Pradesh Assembly, Japu Deru, Deputy Leader of Opposition, Tage Taki, Chief Whip, BJP Legislative Party and Tumke Bagra, among others.

The opposition MLAs further alleged that the state government led by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, had grossly misused and siphoned off Central funds because of which majority of projects have not been completed.

They further alleged funds were diverted and used under non-plan head, which resulted in the state government failing to furnish “'utilisation certificates”.
Singh has directed DoNER secretary to collect information related to these projects.
