As the wild scorching sun beats down relentlessly, the one way to beat the heat is to stock up on liquids; to stay refreshed. Since caffeine is the staple of the young and the working folks, coffee has to be included in this list of refreshing liquids. It tastes great and keeps us charged!

Given the scorching weather, the best way to drink coffee is to drink it cold! Metrolife visited the city’s famous coffee joints to check out the various cold coffee options they had integrated in their menus and compared them to each other, for a better and more personal coffee experience for you and your differing tastes.

Not so long ago the world famous Starbucks Coffee opened up in Delhi, and received quite a good response. Starbucks is famous for bringing the Italian coffeehouse experience to the world; focusing on the environment as well as the coffee. Metrolife visited the Hamilton House Starbucks outlet in CP, to discover both.

“We don’t treat our customers as transactions. We give them a rich coffee experience as well as a feeling of belongingness,” says Pradeep Singh Rawat, the assistant store manager. To talk about the coffee, Starbucks’ Caramel and Java Choco chip Frappuccinos are the best bets for relief from a hot summer day. The whipped cream and the various ingredients leave the mouth with an exotic sweet taste.

Starbucks seems to us like a place for people who are open to experimenting with their coffee, with all the different types and flavours they provide.

“Costa Coffee to me is place for contemporary coffee lovers. They may introduce new varieties on their menu, but the classic taste never leaves their cups,” Tanya Hasija, a coffee buff, tells Metrolife. And sure enough, that’s what we deduced from trying out the various cold coffee provisions they had. The classic cold coffee, placed at a price of Rs 220 is a good refreshment, leaving the slight and enjoyable bitter taste of caffeine on your tongue. The Latte, another bestseller at Rs 160, accomplishes the same sweet-bitter taste melody.
Cafe Coffee Day has a range of cold coffees to choose from. Iced Eskimo, Devil’s Own, Cafe Frappe etc. are some of the options to choose from.

“I’d say that CCD is quite a balanced place. You have the classics, and they also have some new types to offer for the experimental ones. The prices aren’t too high as well,” says Rinku Sharma, a regular at the outlet.

Metrolife spoke to the store manager of the CCD outlet located at the busier-than-life Rajiv Chowk Metro Station. “Kaapi Nirvana is an award-winning cold coffee. The USP of this one is the coconut flavour we include in it. It’s placed at approximately Rs 193 including the taxes,”
he tells us.

Barista Lavazza is another reasonably-priced place for the typical coffee lovers. “They don’t have a lot of fancy flavours, just the regular ones to offer. It is good for people who have a developed favourite coffee taste that they don’t want to change. But, I prefer other outlets because I find their cold coffee a bit watery. Otherwise, it is a nice place to visit once in a while because of their coffee’s homely taste,” Ananya Banga, another coffee buff, tells Metrolife.
Their Brrrista and Brrrista Frappe are placed at the prices of Rs 130 and Rs 170
respectively.

Delhi, being a metropolitan city is also a huge culture hub, which naturally invites more variety into people’s choices and preferences for food and, coffee is no exception. And, it is only normal for different coffee outlets to have different USPs. So go, get caffeinated, in whatever
way you like!
