Various forms of art from painting to sculpture have often adorned the walls of the Visual Arts Gallery at India Habitat Centre. But what the ‘LIFE at its BEST’ exhibition managed to do was to capture your attention to the minute details of life that you otherwise tend to forget or ignore.

Artist Kamal Sharma who showcased his work, inspired from mythology and meditation, told Metrolife, “Everybody’s way of looking at life is different and we have come together as a friends’ collective to display, how we do that.”

Ranging from depicting beauty of nature to femininity to sculptures representing the different shades of youth, the exhibition included an amalgamation of art and sculpture work showcased by a group 13 artists.

Paintings of the Buddha, Lord Krishna and a few of Lord Ganesha stood out. Explained Sharma, “There is so much to learn from Lord Ganesh, from his broad head symbolising ‘wit’ to the movement of the fish indicating life’s ups and downs. There is so much to learn even from the bees which I have portrayed through a joint family system, establishing the importance of the family in today’s world.”

Artist Binay Kumar, a resident of Vasundhara, Ghaziabad shared with Metrolife, “I did my graduation and post-graduation in Fine Arts from College of Art, New Delhi in 2000. I did not create any artwork until 14 years after that, and was looking to build on my savings and I did not want to commercialise my art.”

Kumar brought back memories of the days of ink pens with the showcasing of the leaked blue fluid along with his experience of the lacklustre service of the Indian Railways in the form of a story written in Hindi.

An aesthetic take on the life-inspired contemporary moments and its creatures, from animals to humans to various forms of gods to being one with nature, the exhibition not only highlighted minute works of art and sculpture but also showcased a platform for budding artists in the city. Kumar said, “I do not have to sell my art to survive and I am doing it for my satisfaction along with my circle of friends.”

The exhibition was held from 1 July 2015- 6 July 2015.
