Gamesa forays into solar market

Wind energy producing company Gamesa on Tuesday announced its strategic entry into the solar market with a 10mW order to be commissioned by September 2015.

Gamesa’s 2015-17 business plan includes the analysis of complementary areas with its onshore wind business, such as solar and off grid to explore opportunities in these sectors that offer a high level of synergy with the wind business.

The company will offer Solar EPC solutions for scale solar PV and roof-top PV projects and rural/micro-grid projects. Gamesa India’s chairman and MD Ramesh Kymal said the company has secured 10mW solar power park order on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis from three parties in Tamil Nadu.
