HBO president Michael Lombardo says "Game of Thrones" will go on for at least eight seasons.

Lombardo said showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss feel the fantasy drama series has two more years left after season six, reported Variety.

"'Seven seasons and out' has never been the conversation. The question is, how much beyond the seventh season are we going to do?

"(They are) feeling like there's probably two more years after (season) six... I'd love them to change their minds, but that's what we're looking at right now."

Discussing the possibility of a prequel or a spin-off, Lombardo said he was open to the idea.
"I would be open to anything David and Dan want to do... there's enormous storytelling to be mined in a prequel... but the focus is on figuring out the next few years of this show."

About Jon Snow's fate following the season five finale, Lombardo insisted, "Dead is dead is dead. He be dead... Everything I've seen, heard and read, Jon Snow is indeed dead."

Lombardo had earlier said he wants to see the show run for a decade.
"Would I love the show to go 10 years as both a fan and a network executive? Absolutely. We'll have an honest conversation that explores all possible avenues..." he said.
