The last two years have been exceptionally busy for Sandalwood actress Nikki Galrani. She practically has no dates to give away as she has signed a slew of interesting projects in the Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu film industries. The young lass is so hard-pressed for time that she also bought herself a cosy little apartment in Chennai and moved out of Bengaluru last month. “I am enjoying every bit of what I am doing and it was not until recently that I began to get some meaningful projects. Every new project that is coming my way is offering me something that I’ve never attempted before. I want to work in them all,” she says.

Nikki last appeared in the Kannada film ‘Siddhartha’ and has been listening to a lot of scripts in Kannada. She has even accepted one or two of them but isn’t ready to give away the details just yet. She is currently working in ‘KO2’ in Tamil in which she slips into the role of a reporter and in another Tamil film, she plays the character of a cop. “I have been spending a lot of time trying to understand both the characters. I have always tried to interpret and portray every character in my own style. While playing a reporter, I get to experience the rush and excitement of a reporter’s life. For the role of a cop, I am learning martial arts. While for one of the shots, I got the opportunity to dress up as a village belle,” she says in an excited tone.

Nikki is clear that she doesn’t want to get stuck in cliched, boring and predictable characters. “I want to do more than just running around trees,” she explains. She adds, “I want to leave my mark as an actor.”

She also believes in taking appropriate breaks only to come back and work harder. She has her priorities in place and confesses that she would rather spend all the extra time she has at home with her family. “We never discuss work at home but I consult my family when I listen to a script. However, the final decision is mine. I have complete faith in myself and my work. I only work on projects that I am comfortable with,” she says.
