Kannada literary meet on January 23

Mangaluru taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelan will be held at Govinda Dasa College in Surathkal on January 23.

Briefing reporters here on Saturday, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura said that writer and professor H Ramesh Kedilaya will preside over the meet. Corporator Prathibha Kulai will inaugurate the cultural procession. Writer and theatre artiste Geetha Surathkal will inaugurate the meet. Vidyadayini Sangha secretary M Venkatrao will inaugurate the book exhibition.

Various sessions and student poets meet will be held. In "Nanna Jeevana Patha Anubhava Kathana" programme, theatre artiste Sarojini Shetty and Yakshagana Bhagavatha Agari Raghuram will share their experiences.

Writer Vamana Idya will deliver the valedictory address. Achievers in various fields namely Yaji Niranjan Bhat (religious), H U Ananthaiah (theatre), T K Hussain (literature), John Kennedy, Shankat Shetty (education and agriculture), prof Giridhar Hathwar (education), Suvasini Babbukatte (social service) and Jenny Bai Bengre (organiser) will be felicitated.
