In-charge director for Nimhans

Dr Shankar was previously the HoD of Neuropathology and in charge of the Brain Bank at Nimhans. The appointment had its share of controversy as well.

Registrar M V Savitri published a notification in a daily inviting applications for the post of the director/vice-chancellor, last December. The move did not go well with Dr Nagaraj and the registrar was shunted out before her scheduled transfer to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited as chief general manager in January. However, the Union Health ministry, in its faxed order directed that the registrar should not be relieved till a new director is appointed.

According to sources in Nimhans, 15 applications have been received for the post of the director/VC.  The ministry of Health and Family Welfare will constitute a committee to select the new director shortly.
