Former Opposition party leader from Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) A H Basavaraju on Saturday submitted a memorandum to Mayor B N Manjunatha Reddy requesting the civic agency to adopt Kempapura village that houses Nadaprabhu Kempegowda’s memorial.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Basavaraju said that the village located near Magadi taluk, Thippasandra Hobli, is a historic site as it houses the memorial of the founder of Bengaluru, Kempegowda.

He added: “Atop the memorial, there is a Kempegowda tower which is a very bad state. There is also a lake 200 metres away, which is said to be developed by Kempegowda. The BBMP must make sure that the place is restored though it does not come under the BBMP limits.” He met Mayor Manjunatha Reddy and he had instructed the Palike officers to visit the place and said that once it was confirmed that the memorial belonged to Kempegowda, steps would be taken to develop the tower and the village, he added.
